Q: Why did you name your blog Waves of Summer?
A: I wanted to express the depth of my emotions and thoughts, like being in an ocean surrounded by waves. I also liked the idea of the season of summer and being at the beach. The thought of sun, sand, and surf makes me extremely happy. But there was one underlying thought... I love mermaids! In fact, I am a mermaid. So tying together my life with the ocean just made perfect sense!
Q: How did you meet your husband?
A: Sean and I met in the summer of 2005 when we both decided to get our accounting class over in a quick summermester. Right before our first test, we decided to do some last minute studying together. The study session turned into hanging out by the pool and getting to know each other. We went on a few dates here and there but decided that a serious relationship was not something either of us wanted at the time. But something kept pulling us together and we went through months, and eventually years, of back and forth with lots of highs and lows. Finally, after 8 years together, we were married on October 5, 2013. It has been the most blissful marriage and I truly believe that I could not be happier with any other man!
Q: What are you?
A: I love this question!! My first response is always "a mermaid" :) But I know you're really trying to figure out my ethniclity. My mother is 100% Korean, so that makes me half Korean. My father is a mix of Swedish, English, German, and Native American, so whatever you would call that melting pot, that would be my other half.
Q: Are your eyelashes real?
A: Yes! I was blessed with thick, dark lashes just like my daddy. However, I do dress them up with mascaras. I call it "mascara wardrobing" which is totally a beauty term. It means that you layer different kinds of mascaras to create the perfect combination!
Q: What is your skincare routine?
A: If you've ever seen my mother, she looks like my sister. I think that is largely in part to her Korean genes.. However, she has had a serious skincare routine her entire life, and it sure has paid off! So I follow in her footsteps and have a very serious regime myself. I always wash my face at least twice a day (usually as soon as I wake up and right before I go to bed). In the morning, I use a toner, serum, and then a gel moisturizer (with an SPF!! I can't stress how important this is for the aging of your skin). At night, I always exfoliate while washing my face.. I really like Kate Somerville's Exfolikate, but most of the time, I just use my Korean scrubber which is like magic. I then use a serum, night cream, and eye cream before lathering up my entire body with a body lotion as well. The point is, skin hydration!
Q: What are some of your favorite beauty products?
A: I am obsessed with Dior's Airflash. It's airbrush makeup without having to use a mechanical system. And Tom Ford has the best lipstick formula that goes on creamy and stays on all day. Pink Dusk is my signature color :)
