As last night's events unfolded, and we woke this morning to more despair, hate, and hurting, I started to get really angry. I don't usually post on political matters, but the Dallas Police Department "Ambush" shootings at the #blacklivesmatter rally really hit close to home. Literally... it happened on the street I work on every day. And you know what? I am so sick of BLANK lives matter. I don't care if you're black, white, yellow, purple, a man, woman, straight, gay, whatever. ALL lives matter. Humanity matters. What about the babies? Are all of these people who post on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram about how awful law enforcement is pro-life? Probably not. And it doesn't matter. We are all sinners, every single one of us. And we all need redemption. That is why Jesus Christ came and gave his life for us. Because He knew we would need it. He says "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33). This world is seriously messed up. If we keep segregating ourselves and putting ourselves in groups, there will always be discord. And we will never be united and peaceful. There are much greater evils in the world without us fighting against one another. I just want to say that I am sad for Paris, Turkey, Iran, Orlando, Dallas... I am sad for everyone who loses their life due to violence. I wish this world could come together and see what is on the inside not the outside. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the families of those who have fallen. Unfortunately huge tragedies only wake us up for a short while, and things inevitably go back to the way the were. How can we stop the cycle? How can we learn to love one another? I pray that the Lord comes quickly and heals our broken world. Through Him is the only path that will bring us to the light and we desperately need redeeming. Let us all pray for healing, hope, and understanding so that we don't wake up to yet another tragedy.
